Exposure to UVB rays can lead to acute and chronic health effects. Short-term exposure can cause sunburn, characterized by redness, inflammation, and pain. Long-term exposure, however, increases the risk of skin cancers such as melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Furthermore, UVB rays can also cause photoaging, which includes wrinkles and loss of skin elasticity, and can suppress the immune system, affecting the body's ability to fight off certain infections.
