In humans, chocolate toxicity is rare due to our ability to metabolize theobromine efficiently. However, excessive consumption can lead to side effects such as increased heart rate, sweating, tremors, and gastrointestinal issues. In extreme cases, it can cause more severe symptoms like seizures. The lethal dose (LD50) of theobromine for humans is estimated to be around 1,000 mg/kg, which would require consuming an impractical amount of chocolate.
