How is Biostimulation Different from Bioaugmentation?

While both biostimulation and bioaugmentation are bioremediation strategies, they differ in their approach. Biostimulation focuses on enhancing the activity of native microorganisms by providing additional nutrients or optimizing environmental conditions. In contrast, bioaugmentation involves the introduction of specific strains of microorganisms to a contaminated site to accelerate the degradation process. Both methods can be used separately or in conjunction to improve remediation outcomes.
