How is Lead Toxicity Diagnosed?

Lead toxicity is typically diagnosed through blood lead level (BLL) testing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) considers BLLs of 5 micrograms per deciliter or higher to be concerning in children. However, no level of lead is considered completely safe, and efforts should be made to minimize exposure. Additional diagnostic tests may include X-rays to detect lead lines in bones, particularly in cases of chronic exposure.
