Removal of the toxicant can be achieved through several methods. Gastric lavage, also known as stomach pumping, is a common method used in acute poisoning cases. Activated charcoal may also be administered to bind the toxicant and prevent its absorption. In some cases, hemodialysis or hemoperfusion may be used, especially when dealing with toxins that are not easily metabolized.
