Despite its promise, Tox21 faces several challenges. One of the main obstacles is the complexity of biological systems, which makes it difficult to extrapolate in vitro findings to real-world scenarios. Additionally, there is a need for the development of more sophisticated models that can accurately predict human health effects. The integration of diverse data types from high-throughput screens, omics technologies, and traditional toxicology also presents a significant challenge.
