What Challenges Does COS Face in Implementing Open Science in Toxicology?
Despite the benefits, there are challenges in implementing open science in toxicology. One major challenge is the confidentiality of proprietary data, particularly in industry-funded research. Balancing the need for transparency with protecting intellectual property can be difficult. Additionally, there is resistance to change from some researchers who are accustomed to traditional publication models. COS works to address these challenges by advocating for policies that incentivize open science practices and by providing education and support to ease the transition.
