Chemical Weapons Convention
(CWC) is an arms control treaty that outlaws the production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons and their precursors. It was adopted by the
United Nations
in 1992 and came into force in 1997. The
Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons
(OPCW) is responsible for implementing the provisions of the CWC.
