Which types of poisoning cases are typically treated in the ICU?
The ICU is often required for severe cases such as organophosphate poisoning, methanol or ethylene glycol ingestion, and acute benzodiazepine overdose. Patients with compromised airways, significant hemodynamic instability, or severe neurological impairment are candidates for ICU admission. Additionally, cases involving multi-drug toxicity or exposure to industrial chemicals may also necessitate intensive care.
