Who Enforces Food Safety Regulations?

Food safety regulations are enforced by different national and international agencies. In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) are responsible for regulating food safety standards. Internationally, the Codex Alimentarius Commission, established by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Health Organization (WHO), develops harmonized international food standards.
