Biochemical markers, also known as biomarkers, are measurable indicators of a biological state or condition. In toxicology, they can indicate exposure to a toxin, the biological effect of that exposure, or an organism's susceptibility to a substance. These markers can be molecules, cells, or molecular alterations in tissues or fluids that are associated with toxicant exposure.
