Common sources of POPs include industrial processes, pesticide use, waste incineration, and the production and disposal of electrical equipment. Some well-known POPs include DDT, PCBs, and dioxins. Many of these chemicals were once widely used in agriculture, manufacturing, and industrial applications before their harmful effects were fully understood.
