Although phalloidin itself is not primarily responsible for the symptoms of mushroom poisoning, the symptoms from ingestion of Amanita phalloides include severe abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and dehydration. These symptoms typically appear 6 to 12 hours after consumption. As the liver gets affected, jaundice, liver enlargement, and coagulopathy may develop, progressing towards liver failure. Without intervention, this can result in multi-organ failure and death within days.
