Though lisinopril is considered safe when used as prescribed, there are potential toxic effects, especially in overdose. The most common adverse effects include hypotension, dizziness, and kidney dysfunction. Overdose may lead to severe hypotension, electrolyte imbalances, and renal failure. In rare cases, it can cause angioedema, a life-threatening condition characterized by swelling of the deeper layers of the skin, often around the eyes and lips.
