What are the Treatment Options for Ethanol Poisoning?
Treatment is supportive and aimed at maintaining vital functions:
Airway Management: Ensuring the airway is clear to prevent aspiration and maintain adequate ventilation. Intravenous Fluids: To maintain hydration and correct electrolyte imbalances. Monitoring: Continuous monitoring of vital signs and mental status. Thiamine Supplementation: To prevent Wernicke's encephalopathy in chronic alcohol abusers.
In severe cases, hemodialysis may be required to rapidly remove ethanol from the blood.
