Apart from its historical use as a pesticide, strychnine has limited therapeutic applications. It was once utilized in small doses as a stimulant in veterinary medicine but has largely been replaced by safer alternatives. Due to its high toxicity, its use is strictly regulated in many countries. Unfortunately, strychnine has also been misused in criminal activities, including homicide and poisoning, due to its rapid onset and severe symptoms.
