TRAIL receptors are a subgroup of the TNF receptor superfamily. They are generally categorized into two types: death receptors (DR4 and DR5) and decoy receptors (DcR1, DcR2, and osteoprotegerin). The death receptors contain a death domain that can activate the apoptotic pathway, whereas the decoy receptors lack this domain and are thought to regulate TRAIL signaling by competitive inhibition.
