Bufotenin, also known as 5-HO-DMT, is a naturally occurring tryptamine found in a variety of plants and animals. It is structurally similar to other well-known psychoactive compounds, such as serotonin and psilocybin. Bufotenin is particularly notable for its presence in the skin secretions of certain toads, such as the Colorado River toad (Incilius alvarius).
