Mycobacterium bovis is a slow-growing aerobic bacterium and a member of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. It primarily affects cattle, causing bovine tuberculosis, but it can also infect humans and other animals. Human infection usually occurs through the consumption of unpasteurized milk or contact with infected animals.
