What Role do Chemicals Play in the Pathogenesis of MDS?
Certain chemicals can induce DNA damage, leading to mutations in hematopoietic stem cells. These mutations can disrupt normal cell differentiation and proliferation, contributing to the development of MDS. Occupational exposure to carcinogenic substances, such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), has also been linked to the pathogenesis of MDS.
