What Types of Contaminants are Commonly Tested for in Soil?
The most common contaminants tested for in soil include heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, and mercury; pesticides and herbicides; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs); volatile organic compounds (VOCs); and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). Each of these contaminants has different sources and poses various risks to the environment and human health.
