Numerous studies have evaluated the toxicological effects of terpinen-4-ol. Research indicates that it is relatively non-toxic when used topically in concentrations found in cosmetic products. Dermatological studies reveal that concentrations up to 5% are well-tolerated for most individuals. However, animal studies suggest that oral administration at high doses can lead to hepatotoxicity and other systemic effects.
