Can Lipofuscin Accumulation Be Prevented or Reversed?
Research into the prevention and reversal of lipofuscin accumulation is ongoing. Antioxidants that reduce oxidative stress, such as vitamin E and coenzyme Q10, show promise in mitigating lipofuscin formation. However, the efficacy of these interventions in humans, particularly in the context of toxic exposure, remains to be fully established. Emerging therapies targeting autophagy and lysosomal function may offer future strategies to manage lipofuscin-related toxicity.
