- Non-Specificity: While versatility is an advantage, it can also be a drawback as LDH release is not specific to any particular type of cell damage. - Interference: Certain substances can interfere with the assay, leading to false-positive or false-negative results. - Temporal Limitation: The assay measures cumulative LDH release, making it less suitable for real-time monitoring of cytotoxic events.
