Given the severe health and environmental impacts of POPs, multiple international agreements and regulations aim to control their production, use, and disposal. The most notable is the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which seeks to eliminate or restrict the production and use of POPs globally. Other regional and national regulations also exist to manage the risks associated with these chemicals.
