Toxins can induce coagulopathy through different mechanisms. Some toxins, such as those found in snake venom, act directly on the clotting factors, impairing their function. Others, like certain anticoagulant rodenticides, inhibit the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors. Additionally, systemic inflammation triggered by toxins can activate the coagulation cascade, leading to disseminated intravascular coagulation (DIC).
