Toxicology, the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living organisms, plays a significant role in understanding glomerular hypertension. Certain nephrotoxins (toxins that specifically target the kidneys) can increase glomerular pressure. This can occur through direct damage to the renal vasculature or by inducing systemic hypertension, which subsequently affects the glomeruli.
