What are the Clinical Manifestations of Colchicine Toxicity?
Symptoms of colchicine toxicity typically manifest within 24 hours and can be categorized into three stages. The first stage includes gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. The second stage, occurring 24-72 hours post-ingestion, involves multi-organ failure, including renal, hepatic, and respiratory failure. The final stage, if the patient survives, involves recovery of organ function but may include myelosuppression and alopecia.
