Colchicine toxicity occurs when there is an overdose, either accidental or intentional. It interferes with microtubule polymerization, disrupting cellular processes such as mitosis and intracellular transport. This leads to the inhibition of leukocyte migration, reduced inflammation, and, in toxic doses, widespread organ dysfunction.
