Biomarkers play an essential role in detecting and monitoring renal toxicity. Traditional biomarkers like serum creatinine and BUN are commonly used, but newer biomarkers such as neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) are gaining attention for their ability to detect renal injury earlier and more specifically than traditional markers.
