Vincristine is a chemotherapy medication used primarily in the treatment of various types of cancer, including leukemia, lymphoma, and some solid tumors. It is a member of the vinca alkaloid class of drugs, derived from the periwinkle plant (Catharanthus roseus). Vincristine works by inhibiting the assembly of microtubules, crucial components of the cell's cytoskeleton, thereby disrupting cell division and leading to cell death.
