What factors contribute to spironolactone toxicity?
Several factors can increase the risk of spironolactone toxicity. Patients with renal impairment are at higher risk due to reduced excretion of the drug and its metabolites. Additionally, concurrent use of medications that increase potassium levels, such as ACE inhibitors, ARBs, or other potassium-sparing diuretics, can exacerbate the risk of hyperkalemia.
