MDPV primarily acts as a potent central nervous system (CNS) stimulant. It inhibits the reuptake of norepinephrine and dopamine, leading to increased concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft. This results in the stimulation of adrenergic receptors, causing heightened alertness, euphoria, and increased heart rate. The effects of MDPV are similar to those of cocaine but are longer-lasting and potentially more intense.
